ERNIE DOYLE TRACY,  68,  of  LaFayette  passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016.  He  was born  July 7, 1947.  Ernie  graduated  from LaFayette High School  class of 1965.  He  was  a veteran of the US Marine Corps,  an  avid  horse trainer,  he  was employed  by  Circle Y  where he  was  awarded salesman  of the year.  He  was  a loving  husband,  father  and grandfather  and enjoyed  coaching any sport his children  were involved in.  He  was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church in Chickamauga.

Survived  by  his  loving  wife  of  45 years, Iris Elizabeth Stansell Tracy  of  LaFayette; sons and daughters-in-law,  Chad (Katy) Tracy  of Colbert, Ga., and  Clay (Christy) Tracy of LaFayette;  grandchildren, Clint Tracy,  Brennan Tracy,  and  Jax  Tracy;  brother, Gary (Tammy) Tracy of Chickamauga;  several  nieces and  nephews  also  survive.

Funeral  service  will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at  the LaFayette First Baptist Church  at 4:00pm  with  Pastor  Ronnie  Millican  officiating.

Interment  in  the  LaFayette  City Cemetery.

Pallbearers are  Greg Ramey, James McConnell, Buddy Chapman, Larry Houston, Jim Sanders, and Richard Garner.

Honorary pallbearer is Terry Thompson.

Family  will receive  friends  Tuesday,  May 31st from 2pm – 4pm  at  the LaFayette First Baptist Church.

GARY  DENNIS  ENGLAND,  age  57,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  on  Thursday, June 02, 2016.

He  was  born  on  June  03,  1958  to  the  late  Bill  England,  Jr.  and  Edith  Ilene  Wilbanks.

Survived  by  his  brother,  Jeff  (Cindy)  England  of  Ringgold;  daughter,  Sarah  Spaulding  of  Chickamauga;  aunts,  Ruth  Crosswhite  and  Mae  Belle  Thompson  both  of  LaFayette;  nephew,  Jeffrey  (Tori)  England;  and  great  nephew,  Jeffrey  Lee  England.

MRS.  CHARLOTTE  JEAN  HILL  HUTCHISON,  age  87,  of  Fort  Oglethorpe,  formerly  of  West  Armuchee  and  LaFayette,  passed  away  on  Wednesday, June 08, 2016.

Born  on  May 15, 1929  to  the  late  Ira  Sherman  Hill  and  Fannie  Huggins  Hill.  Charlotte  was  a  graduate  of  Armuchee  High  School.  She  married  her  late  husband,  John  Duchaine  Hutchison  on  August  25, 1951  and   moved  to  LaFayette,  Ga.  She  worked  for  fifteen  years  at  Rivoli  Mill  where  she  was  a  seamstress  and  made drapes  for  the  local  ladies  in  LaFayette,  where  she  used her  earnings  to  pay  for  their  first  home.  Charlotte  was  instrumental  in  the  start  of  the  Cub  Scouts  and  Boy  Scouts  in  Fort  Oglethorpe, Georgia.  She  also  was  part  of  the  group  that  helped  create  the  Chattanooga  Swim  Team.  While  her  daughter  Jean  was  in  elementary  school,  she  made  the  cheerleading  uniforms.   She  enjoyed  volunteering  her  spare  time  to  her  community.  Charlotte  was  of  the  Baptist  faith.

Along  with  her  parents  and  husband  she  was  preceded  in  death  by  four  sisters.

She  is  survived  by  her  daughter,  Jean  (James)  Wilson  of  Flintstone;  son,  Greg  (Robin)  Hutchison  of  Chattanooga;  grandchildren,  Brian  (Gina)  Wilson,  Christina  (Bryan)  Jenkins  and  Ian  Hutchison;  five  great  grandchildren  and  one  great-great  grandchild;  numerous  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

Funeral  from  the  Wilbanks  Memorial  Chapel  Monday,  June 13, 2016 at  11:00  A.M.  with  Dr.  Paul  Rader  officiating.

Interment  will  follow  at  the  Pleasant  Hill  United  Methodist  Church  at 4686  West  Armuchee  Rd.  Summerville, Ga.

JAMES  “JIM”  EDWARD  CREWS, 71,  of Trion  passed  away  Saturday,  June 11, 2016.  He  was  born  March 24, 1945  to the  late  Barney Lee  and Avis Elizabeth Walker  Crews. James  retired  as  store manager  for  Save-A-Lot  in Summerville.  He was  a  Vietnam  Veteran  and  received  the   Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal,  Expert  Rifleman Medal,  and  two  Good Conduct Medals.  Jim  was  a  graduate of  Georgia  Southern  University,  taught  school  in  Armuchee,  Center Post,  and Naomi,  coached  many sports teams,  and  was  a Recreation  Supervisor  for Hayes  Correctional Facility.   Jim pitched  for the  Birmingham  Barons minor  league baseball team  and also umpired.  He enjoyed  many  hobbies,  was  very  talented  in  art  and  music  and  made  guitars  by hand.

Preceded  in  death  by  his parents; sister, Lavonne Crews;  and  first  wife,  Vicki Crews.

Survived  by  his  wife  of  twenty-seven years, Robin Otting Crews; daughters, Joanna and  Caroline  Crews of  Chattanooga; sons, Michael Smith of Ringgold and  Nat Smith  of Trion;  sisters,  Sara Crews of Atlanta, Joyce (Wallace) Brown of White, GA, Ameila  and Orion;  brothers,  Jerry (Cheetah) Crews of Tampa, FL,  and Donald (Susan) Crews of Winterville, GA;  eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren;  several nieces  and nephews.

Funeral  from  the  Wilbanks Memorial Chapel  Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.  with  Donald  Crews  officiating.

Interment  in  the  LaFayette City Cemetery.

MRS.  GLADYS  "TINCY"  ANN  DYKES  BURGESS,  age 68,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  on  Thursday, June 16, 2016.



She  was  preceded  in  death  by  her  parents,  William  and  Kathryn  Kellett  Dykes;  daughter,  Jennie  Helton  Jackson;  sister,  Gerry  Key;  brothers,  Johnny  and  Jackie  Dykes.



Survived  by  her  husband,  Garry  Burgess;  daughters,  Sunshine  (Darin)  Kelley,  and  Michele  (Travis)  Wade;  son,  Rusty  (Nikita)  Helton;  sister,  Marthalean  Dykes;  and  brother,  Billy  Dykes  all  of  LaFayette;  nine  grandchildren;  seven  great  grandchildren; several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.



A  Celebration  of  life  gathering  will  take  place  at  her  home  Saturday, June 18th  at  3:00  P.M.  6100  Chamberlain  Rd.  LaFayette, Ga.

Doris Jones Rhyne (affectionately known as “Dee”) passed away peacefully, at the age of 82, on May 29, 2016.  She was born on December 1, 1933 in Sylva, NC, and was the oldest child of Mary Katherine Clayton and Dewey Daniel Jones.  Doris graduated from Sylva-Webster High School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga School of Nursing.  She and John Sims Rhyne, Sr. were married in February of 1958 and made their home in LaFayette, GA, for forty two years.  She was a member of LaFayette United Methodist Church where she taught Children’s Sunday School for many years.  She was involved in numerous community activities and one of her greatest passions was bridge.  She and John enjoyed traveling extensively with dear friends both in the United States and abroad.  They moved to Holly Springs, NC in 2000 to be closer to her daughter and family.



She is survived by her loving husband John, and children John Sims Rhyne, Jr. (Margaret), Melissa Rhyne Banks (William); grandchildren, John Sims Rhyne, III (Lauren), Anne Clayton Rhyne McCaul (Matthew), Gordon Thomas Rhyne, Julia Louise Banks, Margaret Rhyne Banks, and great grandson John Sims Rhyne, IV; brother Herman Jones and sister Kathy Queen Maples (Rick), and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her step father Carey Edward Queen. 



A graveside service will be held on June 25, 2016; 11:00am at the LaFayette Cemetery with the Reverend David Autry officiating.  In lieu of flowers please consider a gift to the LaFayette United Methodist Church or Transitions Life Care, Raleigh, NC.

MR. JAMES “JAKE” TERRY SCOTT, 95, of LaFayette  passed  away Monday, June 20, 2016.



Preceded  in death by his  wife,  Huddie  “Pete”  Marie Adams Scott; daughter, Hazel Scott; son, Terry Scott; grandson, Joseph Scott; and  parents, James and Nettie Brown Scott.



Survived by sons, Joe (Jean) Scott and Tony (Sue) Scott  all of  LaFayette; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren;  and several nieces and nephews.

Quilla W. Pratt passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the age of 95.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Sarah Frances Wheeler; her brother, Leon Wheeler and his wife, Margaret Little Wheeler.



She is survived by her husband, Stanton E. Pratt; her daughter, Linda (David) Derrick; two grandchildren, Chas (Kathy) Peppers, and Ben (Lana) Peppers; and two great-grandchildren, Samuel and Lily. She is also survived by several loving members of her husband’s family in Turner, Maine.



Born in Greely, Colorado, she moved with her parents to the north Georgia area where she lived most of her life. She was a graduate of Gordon Lee High School and became a licensed beautician and worked in Rossville, GA. During World War ll she worked installing electrical equipment in warplanes and then in Oak Ridge at the atomic bomb center. She married in 1943 to her loving husband of 73 years and moved with him to Auburn, Maine for several years before they returned to LaFayette, Georgia where she worked as a dental assistant until her retirement.



Mrs. Pratt will be remembered by her family and friends as a creative artist and craftsman.  She enjoyed and expressed her talents through many mediums. It gave her great pleasure to give her creations to those whom she loved, and she leaves a beautiful legacy of her works with them.



Quilla was a devoted Christian and faithful member of the First Baptist Church in LaFayette for 65 years. For many years she enjoyed using her God-given creative talents to arrange the flowers for Sunday services each week. She influenced many young girls’ lives through her work in the church GA organization and Sunday School classes.



Her family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church sanctuary in LaFayette from 2-4 pm on Sunday, June 26. The service is scheduled to immediately follow at 4:00 in the sanctuary and interment in the LaFayette City Cemetery.



Pallbearers are Dave Gilbert, Henry Gilbert, Bill Loughridge, Ben Potts, Bruce Potts, Jim Wardlaw, Chip Wheeler, and Bill Whitten.



Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of LaFayette, 201 N. Maine St., LaFayette, Ga. 30728.

THELMA  C.  BROWN,  age  88,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Saturday, June 25, 2016.

She  was  born  on  November 30, 1927  in  Trion,  Georgia  to  the  late  Winston  Alton  McDonald  and  Margaret  Williams  McDonald.  She  is  a  member  of  the  New  Bethel  Baptist  Church  in  Trion,  and  retired  as  a  sewer  at  LaFayette  Manufacturing.

She  was  preceded  in  death  by  her  husband  of  54  years  Fred  Brown;  brothers,  Dub  McDonald,  Jim  McDonald  and  Gene  McDonald.

Survived  by  daughter,  Dianne  Headrick;  sister,  Kathryn  McDonald,  Dean  (Joe)  Cox,  and  Frances  (Joe)  Payton;  grandchildren,  Greg  (Kelly)  Headrick  and  Chip  (Stephanie)  Headrick;  great  grandchildren,  Lane  Headrick  and  Gracie  Headrick;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

JOHN “DOODLEY” ALLEN  WHITE, 77,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Monday,  June 27, 2016  surrounded by his family and friends. Doodley  was an  avid golfer and hunter.  He  was  a truck driver  for Dixie Color in LaFayette.

Preceded  in  death  by his  father, Leonard  White;  mother,  Sarah Stewart  Sprayberry,  and  son,  John Kerry White.

Survived  by  his  wife of 40 years,   Kathy Brown White; daughter,  Amanda (Will) Beyer;  sons,  Jeff (Rhonda) White, Richie White, Mark (Andrea) White, and Robert (Kristy) White; sister, Eileen Kitchens; brother,  Terry “Sunshine” White; thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral at the LaFayette First Baptist Church Thursday, June 30th at 2pm with  Dr. Todd Gaddis  officiating.

Interment LaFayette Memory Gardens.

WALTER  “WALT”  HARRIS  MCKENZIE,  age  77,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Monday, June 27, 2016.

Walt  was  born  to  the  late  James  Harvey  McKenzie  and  Annie  Corrine  Nixon  McKenzie.  Walt  was  a  veteran  of  the  U.S.  Air  Force.  He  retired  from  Omega  trucking  company  and  was  a  member  of  Corinth  Baptist  Church.

Walt  is  survived  by  his  loving  wife  of  30  years,  Zonia  Larmon  McKenzie;  daughters,  Denise  Hoverman  of  Ohio  and  Sherrie  McKenzie  of  LaFayette;  sons,  Kenny  (Eve)  Watts  of  Rock  Spring,  Johnny  Watts  of  Florida,  and  Kevin  (Stephanie)  McKenzie  of  LaFayette;  sister,  Nellie  Cochran  of  Trion;  grandchildren,  Shona  (Steven)  Fountain,  Jamie  Watts,  Nikki  Garcia  and  Jacob  Watts;  three  great  grandchildren;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

Survived  by  fiancé,  Vickie  Darnell;  daughters,  Renee  McWhorter;  Ashley  Umana  and  Nicole  Whitcomb;  son,  Brian  McWhorter;  sister,  Cyclida  Youngblood;  eleven  grandchildren;  one  great  grandchild;  several  nieces  and  nephews also  survive.

Graveside  service  in  the  Rock  Spring  Cemetery  Saturday,  July 2nd  at  4:00  P.M.

Family  will  receive  friends  at  the  funeral  home  Saturday  from  2:00  P.M.  until  3:30  P.M.

JAKE  SAUCEMAN,  age 73,  of  Rome  formerly  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Thursday June 30, 2016.

Jake  was  an  avid  golfer  and  loved  Alabama  Crimson  Tide  football.

He  was  preceded  in  death  by  his  father,  J.C.  Sauceman.

Survived  by  his  wife,  Lisa  Sauceman  of  Rome;  his  mother,  Mary  Sauceman  of  LaFayette;  daughter,  April  (Greg)  Garner  of  Cartersville;  son,  Jeff  Sauceman  of  Chattanooga;  sister,  Louann  Pilcher  of  Thomasville,  Ga;  brother,  Mike  (Lana)  Sauceman  of  LaFayette;  grandchildren,  Will  Garner,  Kate  Garner  and  Sarah  Garner;  nieces,  Machielle  (Joey)  Downs  and  Carrie  (Jarrell)  Hale  also  survive.

A  celebration  gathering  will  be  at  the  funeral  home  Sunday,  July 03  from  1:00  P.M.  until  3:00  P.M.

MR.  JOHNNY  RAYFORD  SUITS, SR.,  age 69,  of  Trenton, Georgia passed away Saturday, July 02, 2016.

He  was  a  veteran  of  the  United  States  Navy  and  retired  from  the  textile  industry.

He  was  preceded  in  death  by  his  parents,  William  Paul  Suits  and  Lillie  Bell  Walker  Suits;  sister,  Helen  Suits,  Patsy  Suits  and  Bonnie  Tucker;  brothers,  J.R.  Suits  and  Fred  Suits;  father-in-law, Richard A. Stewart;  and  sister-in-law,  Betty  Huskey  Suits.

Survived  by  loving  wife  of  49  years,  Chris  Suits  of  Trenton;  son,  Johnny  Suits  Jr.  of  Trenton;  sister,  Joyce  (Billy)  Payton  of  Trion;  grandson,  Maverick  Suits  of  LaFayette;  mother-in-law, Sara  Stewart;  brothers-in-law  and  sisters-in-law,  Thomas  Tucker,  Betty  Ann  Suits,  Clay  (Laurie)  Stewart,  Cathy  Cureton,  Craig  (Carola)  Stewart  and  Carey  (Susie)  Stewart;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

Funeral  from  the  Wilbanks  Memorial  Chapel  Wednesday,  July 6th  at  11:30  A.M. with  pastor David Hale  officiating.

Interment  will  follow  in  the  Chattanooga  National  Cemetery  at  1:30  P.M.

MR.  BRUCE  ALLEN  GOODMAN,  age  55,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Monday, July 04, 2016.

He  was  preceded  in  death  by his  parents,  Walter  and  Nannie  Duckett  Goodman;  two  brothers,  Roger  and  Howard  Goodman.

Survived  by  daughters,  Stephanie  (Johnathan)  Taylor  of  Trion  and  Chasity  Woodard  of  Soddy-Daisy,  TN;  sisters,  Evie  Peppers,  Margie  Cannon,  and  Ada  Jackson  all  of  LaFayette;  brothers,  W.T.  Goodman,  David  Goodman,  Mike  Goodman,  Leonard  Goodman,  and  Wayne  Goodman  all  of  LaFayette;  grandchildren,  Gavin  Crider,  Natalie  Coleman,  Hailey  Taylor,  KaeDence  Coleman,  and  AniYah  Leattner;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

Funeral  in  the  Wilbanks  Memorial  Chapel  Thursday,  July 7th  at  2:00  P.M.  with  pastor  Dennis  Chambers  officiating.

Interment  in  the  LaFayette  City  Cemetery.

MR.  SANFORD  “SARGE”  NATHANIEL  GORDY,  age  92,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Thursday,  July 07, 2016.

Sanford  was  a  retired  veteran  of  the  United  States  Air  Force and was the recipient of the Purple Heart during his service in WWII overseas; he also served in the Korean War  and was a lifelong member of the American Legion.  Sanford also retired from Barwick Mills in LaFayette. He loved to read, write and loved classic movies, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle.

He  was  preceded  in  death  by  his  brothers,  Walter  Allen  Gordy,  Thomas  Melton  Gordy  and  Roger  David  Gordy.

Survived  by  loving  wife  of  62  years, Martha Joyce Brown Gordy;  daughters  and  sons-in-law,  Jo  Anne  (Lio) Barcenas,  Karen (Mark)  Gordy  Payton,  Royce  Jean  Gordy  all  of  LaFayette,   and  Viola  Elayne  Gordy  of  Chattanooga;  son,  Monty  Gordy  of LaFayette;  grandchildren,  Chris Anderson, Renee Matthews, Jesse Wallin, Jody Dunn, Lacey Sisemore, Eric Sisemore, Nick Walker,  Lori Walker, Tonya Johnson,  and Steven Gordy; several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral from the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel Monday, July 11that 2:00pm with Pastor Russell Swafford officiating.

Interment in the Anderson Memorial Gardens, Ringgold.

Pallbearers  will be  Grandsons.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Life Choice Hospice.

Visitation at the funeral home Saturday, July 9thfrom 3pm - 8pm, Sunday, July 10th from 2pm – 8pm and Monday from noon until time of service.

BRUCE  LEON  WHITE,  age 61,  of  Chickamauga  passed  away   Saturday, July 09, 2016.

He  was  born  on  November 11, 1954  to  the  late  R.C.  White  and  Betty  Sweet  White.  Bruce  had  a  passion  for  riding  his  Harley  Davidson.

He  was  survived  by  his  girlfriend,  Julia  Keith  of  LaFayette;  daughters  and  sons-in-law,  Amy  (Duane)  Stamper,  Mindy  (Eric)  Forrest,  and  Tracy  (Curtis)  Johnson  all  of  LaFayette;  grandchildren,  Amny,  Zach,  February,  Zander,  Destiny,  Macayla,  Raven,  and  Ethan;  one  great  grandchild,  Gage;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

Funeral  from  the  Wilbanks  Memorial  Chapel  Monday,  July 11th  at  5:00  P.M. 

Interment  in  the  LaFayette  City  Cemetery.
