Charles Clements Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 30, 2016. He was 90 years old. He was born on February 19, 1926, of the late Charles Clements Sr. and Ethel Clement Clements. He was a lifelong resident of LaFayette, Georgia, and lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of LaFayette. He served as a deacon and taught Sunday School for many years.
Mr. Clements was a graduate of Stetson University and Cumberland School of Law. He served as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives, City Judge for the City of LaFayette, and was a retired Judge of the State Court of Walker County and member of the Lookout Mountain Bar Association. He practiced law in Walker County in excess of 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Martha Greer Clements. Survivors include son, Charles Clements III (Chuck), son, Patrick Robert Clements (Donna), and daughter Betsy Clements Hannah, all of LaFayette. Grandchildren include Taylor, Bailey, and Chade Clements; Lindsey, Abbey, Christina, and Rob Hannah. Brothers, James Clements (Huntsville, Ala), Judson Clements (Winchester, Tenn), sister, May Juanico (Orlando, Fl) , and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, August 1 from 4pm – 8pm at Wallis-Wilbanks and Tuesday, at the First Baptist Church from 1pm until time of service. A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, August 2 at 2 pm, at the First Baptist Church, LaFayette, with Dr. Todd Gaddis officiating.
Interment will follow at LaFayette Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Judge Ralph Hill, Judge C. Donald Peppers, Hill Pope III, Guy Pope, Fred Rea, and Wayne Swanson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Lookout Mountain Bar Association.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of LaFayette, or your favorite charity.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Shepard Hills Health Care and Hospice for their wonderful care of our precious daddy and Grandpaw.
