ROBERT  WAYNE  SNIDER,  age  51,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Sunday, February 07, 2016.

Preceded  in  death  by  his  father,  Cecil  Snider  and  sister,  Dian  Dean.

Survived  by  his  son,  Chad  Snider  of  LaFayette;  mother,  Betty  Jo  Cooley  of  LaFayette;  daughter,  Amanda  (Kyle) Amende  of  Clarksville;  son,  Chad  (Danielle)  Snider  of  LaFayette;  brother,  Danny  Snider  of  LaFayette;  five  grandchildren;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

Funeral  from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.  with  Rev.  Marion  Webb  officiating.

Interment  in  the  Crest-Lawn  Memorial  Park.

Pallbearers  are  Dillon  Hardin,  Tyson  Williams,  Tim  Regan,  Stacy  Young,  Jody  Wallin  and  Justin  Hilburn.

Preceded  in  death  by  his  biological  father,  Vernon  Shields.

Survived  by  his  wife  of  22  years,  Cheryl  Shields;  mother,  Monita  Chastain;  father,  Vance  Chastain; daughters,  Christine  Lynn  DeLeon  of  Calhoun,  TN,  Jennifer  Brooke  Shields  of  Cleveland;  son,  Patrick “P.J.”  Jordan  Shields  of  LaFayette;  brothers,  Derk  Shields,  Kelly  Chastain,  and  Toddy  Chastain  all  of  Cleveland;  five  grandchildren  and  several  nieces and  nephews  also  survive.

Funeral  services  from  the Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Friday,  February  12,  2016  at  2:00 p.m.  with  Rev.  Randy  Avans  and  Eddie  Jackson  officiating.

Interment  at  the  LaFayette  Memory  Gardens.

MR.  KELLY  WADE  PAYNE,  age 56  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Thursday,                      February 11,  2016.

He  was  born  on  July 13, 1959  to  the  late  Billy  Payne  and  Evelyn  Palmer  Payne.

Survived  by  his  brother,  Jeff  (Sandra)  Payne  of  Florida;  niece,  Brittany  (Joe)  Fralick;  nephew,  Shane  Hewitt;  great  nieces,  Kiley  and  Kaley.

Funeral  from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Sunday,  Feb. 14,  at  2:00  P.M.

Interment  in  the  Littlejohn  Cemetery.

MARY  ALICE  STINNETT,  age  73,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Saturday,  February 13, 2016.

She  attended  the  Old  Way  Baptist  Church.

She  was  preceded  in  death  by  her  husband,  James  Stinnett;  son,  Ray  Woods,  longtime  companion,  Cecil  Watts;  three  sisters  and one  brother.

Mary  is  survived  by  daughter,  Darlene  Smith  of  Virginia;  sons,  Ronald  Stinnett,  Jessie  Stinnett,  Jimmy  Stinnett  and  Wally  Stinnett  all  of  LaFayette;  step-daughter,  Mary  Ann  Stinnett  of  LaFayette;  sisters,  Freda  Mae,  Marselle  and  Christine; grandchildren,  Tim Smith,  Lisa  Smith,  Jeffery  Stinnett,  Tracy  Woods,  Ray  Woods,  Christy  Woods;  step-grandchildren,  Melissa  Cook,  Tracy  Norton  and  Rachel  Burrage;  eight  great  grandchildren;  nine  step-great grandchildren,  and  several  nieces  and nephews  also  survive.

MAGGIE  GREENE  WALKER,  age  85,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Sunday, February 14, 2016.  She  was  born  May  3,  1930  to  the  late  Monroe  and  Reo  Greene,  and  was  a  member  of  Sunnyside  Baptist  Church.

She  is  preceded  in  death  by  her  husband,  Grady  F.  (John)  Walker;  son,  Reverend  Roger  F.  Walker;  sisters,  Jewell Palmer,  Ozell  Johnson  and  Ruth  Cagle;  brother,  J.R.  (Ted)  Greene.

Survived  by  son,  Norman  D.  Walker  of  LaFayette;  sister,  Lola  Skates  of  LaFayette;  grandchildren,  Latrease  (Rodney)  Walker  Williams,  Kristi  (Bryan)  Walker  Whitaker,  Roger  Dale  (Esmerelda)  Walker,  Jamie  (Blake)  Walker  Pickard,  and  Nathan  Eric  (Cyndi)  Walker;  great  grandchildren,  Tiffany  Skidmore,  Blake  Avans,  Hannah  Guest,  Bryana  Whitaker,  Brylea  Kate  Whitaker,  Mason  Walker,  Amber  Walker,  Cassie  Walker,  and  Erica  Walker;  five  great-great  grandchildren  and  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

JIMMY  RAY  FICKEY,  age  73,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Sunday, February 14, 2016.

Jimmy  Ray  was  born  July 15, 1942  to  the  late  Raymond  and  Mildred  Fickey.  He  was  a  member  of  the  Corinth  Baptist  Church  since  May 28, 1972.  He retired from  Boilermaker  Local  454  in  Chattanooga.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Donald E. Fickey and grandson, Justin Cody Clark.

Survived by his wife of 53 years, Theresa  Johnson  Fickey; son, Tim Fickey; daughters, Lana Spencer, and Brandi (Wayne) Reynolds; grandchildren, Harlie Spencer and Charly Reynolds; sister, Mary Gayle (Kenneth) Oliver; sister-in-law, Kathy Fickey; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A  celebration  of Jimmy Ray’s  life will  be  held at Corinth Baptist Church  Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.  with  Pastor  R.D.  Wallin  officiating.

Interment  in  the  Corinth  Cemetery  to  take  place  between     5:30 p.m. and  6:00  p.m.

Pall Bearers are Ronnie McClure, Jerry Day, Duane Spencer, Brian Whitten, Homer Patterson, Neal Johnson, and Marty Holland.
Honorary Pall Bearers are Chris Russell, Willis Wilkey, Roy Bailey, Shelia Patterson, Duran Rowlls, Jerry Fielding, and the Men of Corinth Baptist Church.

MICHAEL  “MIKEY”  GLENN  HANKINS,  age  59  of  Rock  Spring  passed  away  Thursday, February 18, 2016.

Mikey  was a  veteran  of  the  USMC.  He  was a graduate  of  Chattanooga  State  and   retired  from  TVA as  a  Project  Manager.

He  was  preceded  in  death  by  his  wife,  Lisa  Hankins;  grandparents,  Dave  and  Lucille  Shaver  and  C.G.  Hankins,  Jr.  and  Amy  Hankins.

Survived  by  daughter,  Candace  Hankins  of  Rock  Spring;  his  mother,  Frances  Shaver  Hankins  of  Rock  Spring; father,  Ronald  Glenn  Hankins  of  Ocean  Springs,  Mississippi;  brother  and  sister-in-law,  Jeff  (Deborah)  Hankins  of  Lexington,  AL.;  grandchild,  Haiston  Michael  Young;  nephews,  Will and  wyatt  Hankins  also  survive.

A  Celebration  of  Mikey’s Life  will  be  held  in  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Sunday,  February 21 at  3:00 pm.

PAUL  WILLIAM  RAMEY,  age  80,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  February 21, 2016.

Born  in  Trion,  Georgia  January 30, 1936,  Paul  lived  in  LaFayette  for  most  of  his  life.  He  served  four  years  in  the  U.S. Air Force during the Korean  War  time.  After  his  release  from the  Air  Force,  he  returned  to  school  and  earned  his  high  school  diploma  from  LaFayette  High  School. Paul  then  served  twelve  years  active  guard  with  the  Tennessee  National  Guard,  he  served  six  and a half years  with  the  Reserve.  During  his  time  of  service  he  received  many  decorations  and  awards.  He  worked  for  twenty-two  years  at  Barwick  Mills  and  belonged  to  the  VFW  and  American  Legion  and  was  of  the  Baptist  faith.    

Preceded  in  death  by  his  parents,  Gordon Lee Ramey and  Zillah Hood  Powell;  brother,  Jimmy  Lee Ramey;  and  stepfather,  Ben  Powell.

Survived  by  daughters,  Terri  Ramey,  and Tina  (Eddie)  Watkins  all  of  LaFayette;    son,  Nickey (G.Dean)  Ramey  of  Trion;  his  former  wife  of  36 years,  Earline  Ramey;  grandchildren,  Casey (Lacy) Ramey,  Jason  King,  Sharon  (Justin)  Shropshire,  Aaron  (Jessica)  Watkins,  Tim  (Jennifer)  Watkins,  and  Tony  (Nicole)  Watkins;  thirteen  great  grandchildren;  one  great-great  grandchild;  nephew,  Tony  Ramey;  and several  cousins  also  survive.  Family  would  like  to  extend  their  gratitude  and  appreciation  to  the  caring  staff  of  Shepherd  Hills.

Funeral  from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Thursday,  February 25, 2016  at  2:00 p.m.  with  Pastor  Jeremy  Singletary  officiating.

Interment  in  the  LaFayette  Memory  Gardens.

MRS.  BELVA  RAMEY,  age  92,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Wednesday, February 24, 2016.

She  was  born  on  September 14, 1923.  Belva  was  a  member  of  the  Ridgeview  Baptist  Church.

She  was  preceded  in  death  by  her  husband,  Glenn  Ramey;  three  sisters  and  Three  brothers.

Survived  by  her  son,  Ronnie  Ramey  of  LaFayette;  grandson,  Rich  (Amy)  Ramey  of  Cleveland,  Ga.;  great  grandchildren,  Bella  and  Hazen  Ramey;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

Funeral  from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Friday,  February 26  at  2:00  P.M.  with  Rev.  Charles  McElhaney  officiating.

Pallbearers  are  Buddy  Chapman,  Jim  Ramey,  Steve  Huggins,  Gregg  Ramey,  Gary  Chapman  and  Gregg  Chapman.

ELAINE  KRAMER,  age  60,  of  Rock Spring  passed  away  Wednesday,  February 24, 2016.

Elaine  was  born  on  July 16, 1955  in  Macon,  Georgia.  She  attended  the  Center  Grove  Baptist  Church.  Elaine  had  worked  at  Abney  Chiropractic  in  LaFayette  and  for  the  Walker  County  Family  and  Children  service  in  Rock  Spring. 

She  was  preceded  in  death  by  her  brother,  Wayne  Foskey  and  step-father,  Paul  Reynolds.

Survived  by  her  husband,  Hank  Kramer  of  Rock  Spring;  daughter  and  son-in-law,  Kim  &  Matt  Foster;  son  and  daughter-in-law,  Scott  &  Elizabeth  Brown  all  of  Ringgold;  her  mother  Shelly  Townson  Reynolds  of  LaFayette;  sisters,  JoAnn  Foskey  of  LaFayette  and  Mary  Barbee  of  Ellijay;  grandchildren,  Michael  Chambers,  Tylor  Brown,  Sarah  Brown,  Madison  Betty  and  Austin  Foster;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

Funeral  from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Sunday,  February 28  at  2:00  P.M.  with  Pastor  Chuck  Romain  and  Pastor  Henry  Dixon  officiating.

Interment in  the  LaFayette  City  Cemetery.

GENEVA HEGWOOD  CRANE,  age  82,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Friday, February 26, 2016.
She  was  born  on  July 20, 1933  in  LaFayette, Georgia.  Geneva  was  a  1951  graduate  of  LaFayette  High  School.  She  was  a  member  of  the  Second  Baptist  Church,  where  she  enjoyed  singing  in  the  choir,  being  a part  of  the  Young  at  Heart  and  doing  work  in  the  church.  Geneva  was  a  paralegal  for  John  W.  Love,  Jr.  Attorney  at  Law  in  Ringgold  for  many  years.  Then  she  worked  until  the  age  of  70  with  the  Townley  Law  office  in  Rossville.  For  many  years  she  was  on  the board  for  Habitat  for  Humanity.  After  her  retirement  she  enjoyed  being  a  part  of  the  Red  Hat  Society  and  caring  for  members  of  her  community  and  her  friend  Ellagene  Baker.  Geneva  had  a  passion  for  giving  unconditional  love  and  sacrifice  for  her  family  as  well  as  the  people  she  met  throughout  her  life.

Geneva  was  preceded  in  death  by  her  husband,  John  Lewis  Crane;  her  parents,  Louie  and  Alverna  Thompson  Hegwood;  her  step  mother  Mildred  Hegwood;  grandson,  Adam  Walker;  sister,  Barbara  Mann;  brothers,  Marvin  “Curley”  Hegwood,  Gregg  Hegwood  and  Larry  Hegwood;  a  step  son,  John  L.  Crane, Jr.  also  preceded    her  in  death.

She  is  survived  by  daughters  and  sons-in-law,  Patricia  (Kim)  Hegwood  and  Renee  (Jimmy)  Walker  all  of  Ringgold;  sister  Rose  Duke  of  LaFayette;  brother  and  sister-in-law, Sonny  (Joyce)  Hegwood  of  Trion;  step daughter,  Teressa  (Ralph)  Brown;  step son,  Mike  Crane;  step  daughter-in-law,  Nancy  Crane;  grandchildren,  Jeremy  Hegwood,  Tommy  (Crystal)  Hegwood,  Jason  (Brittney)  Hegwood,  Courtney  (Gary)  Gunter,  April  Hartman  and  Travis  (Megan)  Walker;  step  grandchildren,  Tiffany  (Kevin)  Steckley,  Eric Brown,  Garett  (Kaitlyn)  Brown,  Betsey  Crane,  Johnny  Crane  and  Rob  (Lisa)  Crane;  thirteen  great  grandchildren;  and  one  step  great  grandchild;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

Funeral  will  be  held  at  Second  Baptist  Church  Monday,  February 29,  at  2:00  P.M.  with  Pastor  Mike  Peterson  officiating.

Interment  in  the  Mt. Pisgah  Cemetery. 

Pallbearers  will  be  Grandsons  and  sons-in-law.

Honorary  pallbearer; Gary Gunter.            

Family  will  receive  friends  at  the  funeral  home  Sunday, February 28  from  4:00  to  8:00  P.M.  and  Geneva  will  lie  in  state  at  the  church  on  Monday  from  12  noon  until  service  time.

IVAN  VANDELL  STEPHENSON,  JR,  age  74,  of  LaFayette  went  to  be  with  his  Savior  Jesus  Christ  on  Friday,   March  04, 2016.

Ivan  is  a  veteran  of  the  U.S. Army,  a  member  of  the  Wood  Station  Baptist  Church,  and  worked  over  45  years  with  the  UA  Local  Union  669  Sprinkler  Fitters.

He  was  preceded  in  death  by  his  parents,  Ivon  Vandell  Stephenson,  Sr.  and  Thelma  R.  Johnson  Stephenson,  and  his  brother,  Dewey  L.  Stephenson.

Survived  by  his  loving  wife  of  52  years,  Jamie  McCauley  Stephenson  of  LaFayette;  daughters  and  sons-in-law,  Sara  C.  (Jim)  Kelly  of  Shelbyville,  TN.,  and  J.  Rachel  (Wayne  E.)  Reed  of  West  Augusta,  VA.;  son  and  daughter-in-law,  James  Ivan  (Heather)  Stephenson  of  Royston,  GA.;  sister,  Peggy  West  of  LaFayette;  grandchildren,  Will  Kelly,  Sam  Kelly,  Asa  Kelly,  Elias  Kelly,  Bethany  Kelly,  Jacob  Reed,  Hannah  Stephenson  and  Laynham  Stephenson;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

EUGENE  “GENE”  DAVIS,  SR.,  age  78,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Sunday,  March 06, 2016.

He  was  a  veteran  of  the  United  States  Army  and  was  a  member  of  Fort  Villanow.

Preceded  in  death  by  his  first  wife,  Bessie  Henson  Davis  and  second  wife,  Thelma  Ruth  Studdard  Davis;  his  parents,  Henry  “Shorty”  and  Iris  “Peggy”  Davis;  two  sisters,  Louise  Jones  and  Joanne  McCarley.

Survived  by  his  daughters,  Karen (Charles Mathis)  Smith,  Rebecca  Turner,  Kim  Cameron,  Pam  (Randy  Mikles)  Dye  and  Crystal  Morris;  sons,  Eugene  “J.R.”  (Amanda)  Davis,  Jr.,  William  Davis,  Eric  Davis,  Brad  E.  Davis  and  Robert  Clifton;  sisters,  Elouise  Campbell,  and  Joan  (Kenny)  Mellick;  brother,  Harmon  Davis;  forty-one  grandchildren,  thirty-four  great  grandchildren;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

Funeral  from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Wednesday,  March 09,  at  2:00  p.m.  with  minister  Marshall  Kellett  officiating.

Interment  in  the  LaFayette  City  Cemetery.

Pallbearers  are  the  members  of  Fort  Villanow.

Family  will  receive  friends  at  the  funeral  home  Tuesday, March 08 from                                    5:00  to  8:00  p.m.

JUSTIN  CARL  BRANUM,  age  38  of  Piedmont,  AL.  formerly  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Friday,  February 26,  2016.

He  is  survived  by  his  mother,  Maxine  Branum  of  LaFayette;  father,  Carl  Branum  of  Florida;  sisters,  Danielle  (Dell)   Montgomery,  Tammy  Branum  all  of  LaFayette,  Syler  Branum  and  Kaitlyn  Branum  both  of  Florida.

JONATHAN  DWIGHT  KEEF,  age 30,  of  LaFayette,  passed  away  Wednesday,  March  09,  2016.

Dwight  was  a  wonderful  husband  and  son  and  a  good  dad.  He  was  employed  by  Roper  where  he  was  team  leader,  had  a  passion  for  baseball,  and  was  loved  by  many.

Preceded  in  death  by  his  father,  John  Marty  Keef;  and  grandfather,  John  B.  Keef.

Survived  by  his  wife,  Amber  LeAnn  Nicholson  Keef ;  daughter,  Kyndall  Keef  and  son  Peyton  Keef  all  of  LaFayette;  mother,  Debbie  Sumner  Keef  of  LaFayette;  sister,  Brittany  Streck  of  Rock  Spring;  brother,  Josh  White  of  Trion;  grandparents,  Rev. Ralph  and  Opal  Sumner and  Laura  Mae  and  Winford  Sisemore  all  of  Lyerly; grandparents-in-law, Sally and  Roy  Nicholson;  mother and father-in-law,  David  Nicholson  and  Misty  Alexander;  brother-in-law,  Tyler  Ridley  of  Dalton;  serveral  aunts, uncles  and cousins  also  survive.

Funeral  from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Saturday,  March  12,  2016,  at  2:00 p.m.  with  Rev.  Barry  Brown  and  Rev.  Jackie  Langston  officiating.

Interment  in  the  LaFayette  Memory  Gardens.

MARK  ADAM  WEST,  age  44,  of  Rock  Spring  passed  away  on  Wednesday,  March 09, 2016.

He  was  preceded  in  death  by  his  father,  Paul  Johnson  West.

Survived  by  his  wife,  Shawna  West  of  Rock  Spring;  mother,  Judy  Esquivel  of  Chatsworth;  daughters,  Rebecca  West,  Gemma  West;  sons,  Justin  West  and  Jaxon  West  all  of  Rock  Spring;  sisters,  Angie  Carrington  of  LaFayette  and  Darlene  Callahan  of  Dalton;  brothers,  Mike  West  of  Australia,  Ben  West  of  Rock  Spring  and  Eric   West  of  Rossville;  sister-in-law,  Mary  Beth  Middlebrooks  of  Chickamauga;  and  friend,  Susan  West  of  Rock  Spring  also  survive.

MRS.  EDNA  GRACE  MUSSON,  age 79,  of  LaFayette formerly  of  the Central  Community of  Baton  Rouge, Louisiana,  passed  away  Monday, March 14, 2016.

Edna  was  a  member  of  the  Ridgeview  Baptist  Church.

Preceded  in  death  by  her  parents,  Albert  and  Grace  Mulkey;  son,  Cecil  Ray  Musson;  brothers,  George  Mulkey  and  Albert  “Roddy”  Mulkey, Jr.

Survived  by  loving  husband,  Cecil  Musson;  daughters,  Darlene  (Charles)  Hein,  Belinda  Musson  and  Joni  (Anthony)  Gaughan;  five  grandchildren;  numerous  great  grandchildren,  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

A  Memorial  service  will  be  in  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Thursday,  March 17,  at  7:00  P.M.  with  visitation  from  6:00  P.M.  until  service  time.

Virgil Sperry; Service Friday April 22 at 9:15am at the Chattanooga National Cemetery

Virgil Ray Sperry, 74, of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away in his sleep early Friday March 11, 2016, within weeks of a diagnosis of melanoma.

Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1942, he graduated from Washington High School in 1960, and enlisted in the US Navy later that same year. He was stationed at Naval Submarine Base Groton, CT where he met and married Karen Cecilia Moore of Salem, CT in 1964. Serving as nuclear Machinist Mate he attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer and CW2 prior to his separation.  He worked as a plant manager in the plastics industry for nearly 30 years before he and Karen went into business for themselves.  He and his family have lived and travelled extensively around the world.  Virgil was instrumental to the success of many groups: USS Carbonero Base Submarine Veterans Association, North Georgia Animal League, Paws to Read at Lafayette-Walker Co Public Library, Walker County Development Authority, Northwest Georgia Regional Commission, and the Georgia Hwy 27 Association. 

He was predeceased by his father, Clyde Oliver Sperry who died in France serving in WWII, and his mother Madeline Marie Griffin Sperry of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and a sister Alice Faye Sperry.  He is survived by his wife Karen, his son Adam Del Sperry and husband Marwick Kane of Los Angeles, CA, and daughter Cynthia Luella Sperry of Washington, DC.  His sister Shirley Jean Sperry Feiereisen and husband Robert of Walford, Iowa, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Burial will be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery on April 22, at 9:15 am.  All are warmly welcomed to attend. 

Donations to Sarah Cannon Research Institute are preferred in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette, Georgia.

CHUCK  WARE,  47,  of  LaFayettte,  passed  away  Monday,  March 21, 2016.

He  was  employed  with  Floor  Master,  Inc.  in  Chattanooga.

Preceded  in  death  by  his  mother  and  stepfather,  Mamie  Painter  Bailey  and  Johnny  E.  Bailey;  father,  Frank  Ware;  and  goddaughter,  Jenna  Kendrick.

Survived  by  his  wife  Christina  Weaver  Ware;  son,  Brian  Ware  of  LaFayette;  brothers,  Jimmy,  Eddie,  and  Stacy  Ware  all  of  LaFayette;  and,  goddaughter,  Chlowe  Ketchum.

Funeral  from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Thursday,  March 24, 2016  at  4:00 p.m.  with  Pastor  David  Thompson  officiating.

Interment  LaFayette  City  Cemetery.

Family  will receive  friends  at  the  funeral  home  Wednesday,  March 23rd. from  6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
