JOEY  BRANDON  ANDERSON,  age  30,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Monday, January 04, 2016.



Joey  was  born  on  March 30, 1985  in  Honolulu  Hawaii,  in  which  he  was  very  proud  of.  Joey  was  Employed  with  Shaw  Ind.  in  Chickamauga.  He  was  of  the  Baptist  faith.



Joey  was  preceded  in  death  by  his  grandparents,  Arlis  and  Martha   Cooper.



He  is  survived  by  his  parents,  John  and  Marilyn  Anderson  of  LaFayette; sister,  Christine  (Jeff)  Elder  of  Greenville, SC.;  brother,  Jayson  Anderson  of  LaFayette,  and  John  E.  Anderson  III  of  Dexter, Ga.;  wife,  Myra  Anderson  of  Ft. Oglethorpe;  grandparents,  Dewey and  Nelle  Cleghorn  of  LaFayette;  nieces,  Ava  and  Caroline  Elder;  nephews,  Camden,  Christian,   Awstin,   Ethan,   Grant  and  Luke  Anderson ;  several  aunts,  uncles  and  cousins  also  survive.

Interment  in  the  LaFayette  Memory  Gardens.

HARVEY  LIVELY,  age  76  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Thursday, January 07, 2016.

He  was  born  on  April 07, 1939  to  William  Bryant  Lively  and  Mammie  Hilburn  Lively.  Harvey  loved  the  Lord  and  loved  preaching  His  word.  He  worked  at  E.T  Barwick  Mill  and  upon  retiring,  worked  at  Bi  Lo  in  LaFayette.  Harvey  was  a  member  of   Harmony  Baptist  Church.

He  was  preceded  in  death  by  his  loving  wife,  Donna  Lively;  his  parents;  sister,  Joyce  Biggers;  brothers,  Ross  Lively  and  Bobby  Lively.

He  is  survived  by  his  daughters,  Gina  Tucker  and  Shelia  (Ronnie)  Gentry  all  of  LaFayette;  sons,  Ricky  (Royce)  Lively  of  LaFayette,  Jeff  (Tammy)  Lively  of  Dalton,  and  Darrell  (Deb)  Denson  of  Jasper,  TN.;  sister,  Gail  Wilson  of  Dalton;  brother  Donald  Lively  of  Crossville,  TN.;  fourteen  grandchildren;  several  great  grandchildren,  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

Funeral  from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Monday,  January  11  at  2:00  P.M.  with  Rev.  Danny  Hobbs  and  Rev.  Bobby  Lemons  officiating.

Interment  in  the  LaFayette  Cemetery.

PAUL  WALTER  ENCARDES, JR.,  59,  of  Trion,  passed  away  Friday, January 15, 2016.

Paul  was  born  July 05, 1956  to  Paul  and Aline  Encardes.  He attended LaFayette Church of God.  For twenty years, Paul worked on a tugboat in Louisiana,  he  then  moved  to  Georgia  and  worked  nine  years  with  Roper  Corporation.  He  went on  to earn  his  certification in millwrights,  and  utilized  his skills  employed  with  Mount  Vernon Mills.

He  is  survived  by  his  loving  wife  of  twenty-nine years,  Antonietta  Encardes;  mother,  Aline  Encardes Patty;  daughter,  Jessica  (Mark)  Williams;  sons,  Jon Paul (Karen) Encardes,  James (Misty)  Encardes,  Jamie  Encardes, Joseph  Hardeman,  Michael  Gagliano,  and  Paul  Encardes, III; sisters,  Norie Gaffney,  Raye  Byrd,  and  Shelly  Glynn;  brothers,  Russell  Bennett  and  Buster  Gaffney;  grandchildren,  John Paul, Jr.,  Kayleigh,  Karrie,  Sierra,  Hailey,  Mikhail,  Mark,  Amya,  Jamarrion,  Jaelyana,  Emma,  Peydin,  Brooklyn,  and Joseph, Jr.;   several  nieces and nephews  also  survive.

Memorial service will be held Monday, January 18, at  11:00 a.m. at  LaFayette  Church of God,  with  Pastor  Jeremy  Singletary officiating.

BARBARA  LOU  BURNS,  67,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Sunday,  January  17,  2016.

Barbara  was  born  July  22,  1948  to  the  late  J.L.  “Pete”  and  Ola  Marie  Stanfield.

Barbara  was  an  incredible  grandmother,  in which  they  called  her  Meme,  and  was  a  rock  star  in  their  eyes.  She  was  a  true  homemaker,  with  the  creative  ability  when  it  came  to  gardening,  cooking  and  sewing.  Her  cooking  of  sweet  potato  casserole  and  baking  of  her  chocolate  pie  has  become  a  family  heirloom.  She  loved  to  go  dancing  on  Friday  and  Saturday  nights.  Barbara  passed  her  passion  for  dancing  on  to  one  of  her  granddaughters,  Kelsey.  Barbara  was  of  the  Baptist  faith. 
    

Survived  by  daughters,  Cindy  (John)  Blinn  of  Apison,  TN.,  Samantha  (Nelson)  Ploch  of  Charleston, SC.  And  Celeste  (Steve)  Bargeron  of  Varnell, Ga.;  sisters,  Janette  McDaniel  of  Rock  Spring,  Joyce  (Curtis)  Burt  of  Chatsworth,  Dale  (Dewane)  Broome  of  Knoxville,  TN.;  brother,  Jackie  (Joyce)  Stanfield  of  Jonesboro, TN.;  grandchildren,  Lauren  Blinn,  Kelsey  Blinn,  Jack  Ploch,  Roger  Ploch,  Sam  Ploch,  Drake  Bargeron,  Hayden  Bargeron,  Sidney  Bargeron,  Analiese  Bargeron;  her  beloved  watch  cat,  Cactus;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

SHIRLEY  ANN  THOMPSON,  age  79,  went  home  to  be  with  Jesus  on  Tuesday  morning,  January  19,  2016,  after  a  lengthy  illness.  Shirley  was  a  member  of  the  GracePointe  Church  of  God  of  Prophecy  in  Tunnel  Hill,  where  Shirley  had  special  friends  that  she  loved  so  much  and  enjoyed  fellowship  and  worshipping  the  Lord.

Shirley  was  born  on  March  17,  1936  in  Bradley  County,  TN.  to  Haskel  H.  Cole  and Ollie  E.  Burkett  Cole.

Shirley  grew  up  and  attended  school  at  the  Flint  Springs  Academy.  She  attended  the  Flint  Springs  Cumberland  Presbyterian  Church  where  the  history  of  the  Cherokee  Indians  is  associated.  Shirley  lived  in  Walker  County  in  LaFayette,  Georgia  where  she  raised  her  five  children.  She  was  a  stay-at-home  mom  and  loved  the  Word  so  much.  Her  testimony  in  living  for  Jesus  is  reflected  through  her  children  and  grandchildren.

Shirley  had  so  much  care  and  love  for  her  friends  and  neighbors;  they  were  her  buddies.

Shirley  is  preceded  in  death  by  husband,  Curtis  N.  Thompson,  and  first  husband,  Robert  P.  Crider;  her  sisters,  De ette  (Cole)  Fortner  Bratton  and  Edith  (Cole)  Reed; brothers,  Clifford,  Charles  Wayne,  and  Fred  Cole.

Survived  by  one  sister,  Jewell  (Cole)  Stansell;  children,  Deborah  (Jimmy)  Weaver  of  LaFayette,  Randy  Crider  of  Summerville,  Gary  (Sherry)  Thompson  of  Chickamauga,  Linda  (Rob)  Walston  of  Rock  Spring,  and  Brenda  (Ronnie)  Chandler  of Plainville, Ga.  Ten  beautiful  grandchildren  and  eleven  great-grandchildren  also  survive.

Funeral  from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Friday,  January  22  at  11:00 a.m.,  with  Pastor  Ronnie  Chandler,  Pastor  Jimmy  Weaver,  and  Pastor  Jeff  Duvall  officiating.

Interment  LaFayette  City  Cemetery.

Pallbearers  are  Eli  Duvall,  Randy  Chandler,  Michael  Reed,  Larry  Reed,  Luke  Duvall,  and  Jared  Thompson.

CHARLES “BUTCH” KING,  72,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Friday,  January  22,  2016.

Butch  was  born  March  07,  1943  to  the  late  Walter Everette and Mary Rink King.

Along  with  his  parents,  he  was  preceded in death by his aunt, Julia Mae Rink.    

Survived  by  his loving wife of forty-seven years, Joyce Akridge King; daughter, Mary Grace (Patrick) Murphy of Franklin, TN.; son, David (Molly) King of Marietta; grandchildren, Alex, Emma and Libby Murphy, John David and Charlie King; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

Services will be held at Life Gate Church  Monday,  January 25 at 3:00 p.m.,  with Pastor Delbert Young officiating.

Family  will  receive  friends  at  the  funeral  home  Sunday,  January 24  from  
2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.  and  Monday  from  1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m..

KENNETH  FRANKLIN  RAPE,  age 74,  of   LaFayette  passed  away  Tuesday,  January 26, 2016.

He  was  preceded  in  death  by  his wife, Patsy Smith Rape;  parents, James and Margie Rape; sisters, Cleo Ledford, Lula Cordle, and Lovella Rape; brothers, J.D. Rape,  Marshall Rape, Jerry Rape, Robert Rape, and Lamar Rape.

Survived  by  his daughter, Samantha Rape Harden of Chatsworth; son, Dale (Cheri) Rape of LaFayette; sisters, Ruth Ragland of Ringgold and Louella House of Trion; grandchildren, Adam Rape,  Amanda Porter, Jordan Harden, and Jesse Harden; great grandchildren, Aubrey Rape, Witt Rape, and McKenzie Porter; several nieces and nephews also survive.

MR.  ROBERT  “BOB”  CLARK,  age  85,  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Wednesday,  January 27, 2016.


Bob  was  born  on  December 20, 1930  to  his  parents,  Dewey  Lee  Clark,  Sr.  and  Ida  L.  Clark.  He  was  a  retired  Senior  Master  Sergeant  with  the  United  States  Air Force.  He  was  a  member  of  the  USAF 1370th  photo  mapping  wing.   While  in  the  Air  Force  he  earned  awards  for  Senior  Air  Crew  Member,  Korean  Service  Medal,  Vietnam  Service  Medal,  Air  Medal’s,  USAF  Commendation,  USAF  Outstanding  Unit  Awards,  Good  Conduct  USAF,  Good  Conduct  USA,  Combat  Readiness  USAF,  Vietnam  Service,  National  Defense  Service  for  2  separate  Conflicts,  USAF  Longevity  Service  Award,  USAF  NCO  Officer  Academy  Graduate,  Small  Arms  Marksman  and  Republic  of  Vietnam  Campaign.   


He  was  preceded  in  death  by  his  parents;  daughter,  Sherry  Clark;  brothers,  Dewey  “Tubby”  Clark,  Jr.,  Wayne  Clark,  Billy  Clark,  Lebron  Clark,  Tate  Clark;  and  sister,  Virginia  Clark  Deering.


Survived  by  loving  wife  of  57  years,  Thelma  Hathorne  Clark;  daughter,  Tracy  Clark  Gilreath  Pevehouse;  granddaughter,  Derra  (Jason)  Byrd;  grandson,  Eric  Pevehouse;  great  grandson,  Abram  Lowery  Byrd;  brothers,  Jerry  Clark   and  Jimmy  (Ellen)  Clark;  and  sister,  Sandra  Caldwell;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.


Funeral  from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Tuesday,  February 02  at  12 noon  with  granddaughter,  Derra  Byrd  officiating.


Interment  in  the  Chattanooga  National  Cemetery  to  follow  at  2:00  P.M.

BARRY  WAYNE  WHITE,  age  45,  of  Villanow,  Ga.  passed  away  Saturday,  January 23, 2016.  He was a member of The House of Prayer Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by father, Gene White.

Survived by mother, Faye White of Villanow; daughters, Nicole Kinsey of Dalton, Kimberly White of Villanow, Kassidy White of Villanow; sons, Trevar White, Tyler White both of Villanow and Brandon Simpson of Trion; sister, Angela White of Villanow; half-sister, Brenda Roy of Dalton; half-brother, Gary White of Dalton; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral  from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Saturday,  January 30  at  2:00  P.M.  with  Pastor  John  Boy  Wells,  Pastor  Ricky  Clark,  and  Pastor  Charles  Lee.

Interment  in  the  White  Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Andrew Gilbreath, Deril Shaw, Shane Sparks, Ronnie Hughes, Kevin Godfrey, and Lennie Volek.

MR.  JONATHAN  MARK  BREWSTER,  age  40  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Monday, January 25, 2016.

Mark  was  born  on  December 07, 1975.  He  was  a  member  and  deacon  at  the  LaFayette  Church  of  Christ.  He  was  employed  at   Roper  as  a  mechanical  engineer.   

He  was  preceded  in  death  by  his  father,  Thomas  “Tommy”  Brewster;  grandparents,  Edgar  and  Dovie  Brewster,  and  Sam  and  Frances  Hensley.

He  is  survived  by  his  loving  wife  of  16  years,  Rebecca  Gilreath  Brewster  of  LaFayette;  son,  Jackson  Mark  Brewster;  daughter,  Graycen  Lea  Brewster  both  of  LaFayette;  mother,  Dorothy  Jane  Hensley  Brewster  of  Summerville;  sister  and  brother-in-law,  Karen  Brewster  (Danny)  Wilson,  of  South  Pittsburg,  TN.;  brother,  Thomas  Gregory  Brewster  of  San  Antonio,  TX;  father-in-law  and  mother-in-law,  Bill  and  Pat  Gilreath  of  LaFayette;  sister-in-law,  Kimberly  Kinsey  Brewster  of  Summerville;  brother-in-law  and  sister-in-law,  Jeff  and  Sarah  Gilreath  of  LaFayette;  several  aunts,  uncles,  cousins,  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

Interment  in  Wesley  Chapel  Church  Cemetery.

Mr. Lonnie Mitchell, age 74, of LaFayette, Ga., passed away Friday, January 29.2016 in a local hospital. He was a life-long resident of LaFayette.

Lonnie was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in LaFayette.

He is survived by his wife Christine Land Mitchell, daughters, Tammy Mitchell and Darlene Jones of LaFayette, Ga. Mother, Mildred Bridges Mitchell, LaFayette, Sisters, Brenda Morrison, Janet Larmon and Debra Langston all of LaFayette his Brothers. Freddie Mitchell and Donald Mitchell of LaFayette.  Grandchildren, Chris Jones, Alan Lowe, and Shawn Lowe.  Great Grand Children, Kaleb Lowe and Breeona Jones;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.


The family will receive friends Sunday, January 31, 2016, between the hours of 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM.   Funeral services will be held Monday, February 1, 2016 from Wallis Memorial Chapel at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jim Ellis officiating.

MR.  DOYLE  RICHARD  SWEET,  age  74  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Wednesday,  February 03, 2016.

Survived  by  loving  wife  of  50  years,  Debora  Jane  Sweet;  daughters,  Shirley  Sweet,  Barbara  “Bob”  Louane  Sweet  and  Necole  “CoCo”  Sweet;  sons,  Charles  LeRoy  Sweet,  Ricky  Lee  Sweet  and  Wilmer  Sweet  all  of  LaFayette;  six  grandchildren;  six  great  grandchildren;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

Funeral  from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Friday,  February 05  at  4:00  P.M.  with  Brother  David  Thompson  officiating.

His  wishes  were  to  be  cremated.

FRANCES  JONES  GOWAN,  age  90  of  LaFayette  went  home  to  be  with  her  Lord  on  Wednesday, February 03, 2016.

She  was  born  on  August 20, 1925  to  the  late  Gus  Lloyd  Jones  and  Janie  Mae  Watson  Jones.  Frances  was  a  member  of  the  Community  Baptist  Church  on  Lee  Mason  Road.

Frances  was  preceded  in  death  by  her  son,  Thomas  Fricks;  one  sister  and  three  brothers.

Survived  by  son  and  daughter-in-law,  Grady  Wayne  (Linda)  Fricks  of  Bridgeport,  AL.;  sisters,  Peggy  Stone  and  Doris  Brown;  grandchildren  Shannon  Harwood,  Tommy  Fricks,  Casey  Fricks  and  Jennifer Amy Fricks;  ten  great  grandchildren;  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.

Funeral  from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Friday,  February 05  at  2:00  P.M.  with  Rev.  W.C.  Pence  officiating.

Interment  in  the  Community  Baptist  Church,  Lee  Mason  Road.

Family  will  receive  friends  at  the  funeral  home  Friday  from  1:00  P.M.  until  service  time.

MRS.  HELEN  FORTUNE  WYATT,  age 79, of LaFayette, Ga., passed away Wednesday,
February 3, 2016.

Helen  was  a  member  of  the  LaFayette  Church  of  God.  She  retired  from  Roper  and  then  worked  as  a  greater  at  the  LaFayette  Wal-Mart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie T. Fortune and Mary Alma Baker Fortune, a daughter, Darlyn Delana Wyatt, and a sister, Gene Tucker.

Her survivors include her daughters, Deanna Galyon of Hixon, Tn. and Barbara House,  Rome, Ga.,  a son, Edward Wyatt, of LaFayette, a sister, Sandra Snider, LaFayette, Brothers, Glenn Fortune, St Charles, Illinois, Hoytt Fortune, Richland Hills, Texas, and Thomas Fortune, Trion, Ga.  Grandchldren, Chase Galyon, Brandy Wyatt, Heather McCool, Blake Wyatt, Holly Bently, Haley Black, Andy Wyatt, Shane Voiles, Dereck Howerton, Rhiannon Patterson, Briana Smith, Delan Navarro, Fallon Sargent, Malachi House, and Tara House. Many great grandchildren and great-great Grandchildren; with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral  from  the  LaFayette  Church  of  God  Saturday, February 06  at  2:00  P.M.  with  Pastor  Jeremy  Singleterry  officiating. 

Interment  in  the  LaFayette  Memory  Gardens.

Family  will  receive  friends  at  the  funeral  home  Friday  from  6:00  to  9:00  P.M.  and  she  will  lie  in  state  at  the  church  on  Saturday  from  1pm  until  service  time.

LORENE  BRADLEY,  age  62  of  LaFayette  passed  away  Friday, February 05, 2016.

She  was  born  on  June 21, 1953  and  was  a  member  of  the  Old  Way  Baptist  Church.

She  was  preceded  in  death  by  her  parents,  Jewel  and  Dollie  Bradley;  brothers  and  sisters,  Dorothy  Smith,  Ray  Bradley,  Lee  Bradley,  Ralph  Bradley,  Dee  Bradley,  Harold  Bradley,  Lucille  Bradley  and  J.B.  Bradley.

Survived  by  brothers,  Lonnie  Bradley  and  Everette  Bradley  both  of  LaFayette,  several  nieces  and  nephews  also  survive.  Special  thanks  to  her  niece,  Julie  Brown  and  the  staff  of  Memorial  Hospital.

Funeral  from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Monday, February 08  at  3:30 P.M.  with  brother  David  Thompson  officiating.

Interment  in  the  Estel  Cemetery.

Pallbearers  are  Bobby  Gillis,  Shane  Gillis,  Brandon  Bradley,  Cody  Abercrombie,  Michael  Collier  and  David  Mozingo.

Family  will  receive  friends  at  the  funeral  home  Sunday  from  5:00  to  9:00  P.M.

JACKIE  MELVIN  ALMON,  age  64,  passed  away  Saturday,  February  6, 2016.  He  was  formerly  employed  by  The  LaFayette  Roper  Plant  for  37  years.  As  one  of  Jehovahs’  Witnesses,  he  attended  the  Local  Highland  Congregation.

Preceded  in  death  by  his  parents,  Marvin  Sr.  and  Cleola  Maddux  Almon;  two  sisters,  Bethel  Carson  and  Laura  Frances  McSears;  one  brother,  Frankie  Joe  Almon.

He  leaves  to  cherish  his  memories,  his  wife  of 41  years,  Roxie  Almon;  one  brother,  Marvin  Jr. (Angela)  Almon; five  sisters,  Linda  Gail  Ware,  Annibelle  Ward,  Lonnie  Mae (James)  Langston,  Shirley  Ann (Henry)  Hambrick,  Alice  Joyce  (Levan)  Covin;  special  brother-in-law,  Charles  Carson;  loving  nephews,  Kenneth  and  Ronald  Carson;  devoted  caregiver  and  sister-in-law,  Gladys  Miller;  caring  friends, Toliver  and  Carolyn  Suttles,  Larry  and  Rita  Pickard,  and  Russell  Jackson;  other  nieces,  nephews,  relatives  and  friends  survives.  Special  thanks  to  nurses  and  staff  of  Life  Choice  Hospice.

Jackie  requested  there  be  no  service  and  his  body  cremated.
